Memo exports flashcard sets to Anki as .apkg files. If Anki cannot import your file, use this checklist.

Before troubleshooting

  • Make sure the flashcard set finished generating in Memo.

  • Download the Anki export again from the flashcard set in Studio.

  • Use the latest desktop version of Anki when possible.

  • Confirm the file ends in .apkg.

  1. Open Anki on desktop.

  2. Choose File β†’ Import.

  3. Select the .apkg file exported from Memo.

  4. Confirm the destination deck and import options.

Common issues

Anki says the package is incomplete or corrupted

  • Download the file again from Memo.

  • Check that the download completed before importing.

  • Try importing on desktop Anki instead of mobile first.

Images or page references are missing

  • Open Settings β†’ Configuration β†’ Flashcard Display in Memo.

  • Check whether image references, page references, tags, or deck names are enabled.

  • Export the flashcard set again after changing display settings.

Formatting looks different in Anki

Anki has its own card templates and rendering rules. Some rich formatting may look different after import, especially if you later edit templates inside Anki.

Duplicate cards appear

If you import multiple exports from the same or similar flashcard set, Anki may keep both versions depending on your Anki note types and import settings. Review the destination deck before importing again.

Other export options

If you only need a readable copy, Memo flashcard sets can also be exported as text or PDF. Notes can be exported as Markdown or PDF.

Still stuck?
